Circle City Connect and the Fountain Square Clay Center are partnering to unite families in Indiana by hosting an Empty Bowls Project for Exodus Refugee Immigration. Exodus will be there to speak about their mission and how we can continue to support their efforts!
Every day, millions of courageous persons flee their homelands due to unimaginable persecution. They seek refuge and human rights in other places around the world. Sometimes we forget it is in our backyard, including Indianapolis, Indiana. Here is what we are doing to help. Will you join us?
When: Friday, February 24, 2017 from 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Where: Fountain Square Clay Center - 950 Hosbrook St, Indianapolis, IN 46203
What is Empty Bowls? The Empty Bowls Project is a nationwide endeavor using ceramic arts to help raise money for a local charity. All proceeds will go towards uniting families in Indiana by helping families that are affected by refugee immigration, and you are invited to help support its mission.
Exodus Refugee Immigration is dedicated to the protection of human rights by serving the resettlement needs of refugees and other displaced people fleeing persecution, injustice, and war by welcoming them to Indiana.
Each unique bowl is $20 and there is no limit to the number of bowls that may be purchased. This also includes a serving of chili, provided by Nameless Catering. Each meal is served in a handcrafted bowl donated by local potters and artisans. Guests take home their handmade bowls as a reminder of their personal impact toward supporting Indiana families. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Exodus Foundation.
Here are the key partners:
Circle City Connect (C3) fosters relationships among young professionals and empowers growth through learning, socializing, and volunteering. C3 worked to get these fantastic businesses and organizations together for a night of empowerment, education, and a good time.
Fountain Square Clay Center is a truly special spot in Indy where you can finally live out your "Ghost" dreams. Fountain Square Clay Center potters and local Indianapolis potters are creating and donating bowls for attendees and refugees. The Fountain Square Clay Center is also donating its space for the evening.
Exodus Refugee Immigration works to arrange housing, food, and clothing, case management, as well as education, employment, and health services for individuals and families starting out in their new lives in Indiana. We will be donating all proceeds to their fantastic efforts.
AMACO - American Art Clay Company is a leader and innovator in the ceramic arts and an advocate and supporter of teachers and ceramic artists, for over 90 years. AMACO has been kind enough to supply us with the clay, underglaze, and glaze to create the bowls for this event.
Nameless Catering Company is the fantastic and delicious catering company who will be providing our meal! As a fun aside, their CEO, Jeremy came from a family with a single mother and a sister. Growing up they didn’t have much, and sometimes not very much food on the table. He is very passionate about giving back to the community, especially to helping feed families in need. He is very excited about the cause and helping out families in Indy 😃
